Sample lesson

Build the total load before using the chart

The object being lifted is only the starting point. The chart decision must account for the full load and every deduction required by the manufacturer for the actual crane and configuration.

  1. 01Confirm the verified weight of the object
  2. 02Add the hook block or overhaul ball when required
  3. 03Add rigging and applicable attachments or deductions
  4. 04Use the actual loaded radius and exact configuration
  5. 05Read chart notes before accepting the capacity

Three questions.
Three explanations.

Open each item to see the answer and the reasoning behind it. These examples are original Lift Right educational questions—not official examination content.

01What horizontal measurement is central to selecting capacity from most mobile-crane load charts?+

Answer: Operating radius.

Radius is generally measured from the crane's axis of rotation to the vertical centerline of the hoist line or suspended load, as defined by the manufacturer.

02Why must rigging and the hook block be considered before comparing a load with chart capacity?+

Answer: They may be part of the total suspended load or required chart deductions.

Ignoring required deductions can make the chart comparison understate the load carried by the crane.

03What should an operator do when the actual crane configuration does not match the chart being reviewed?+

Answer: Stop and locate the manufacturer information for the exact configuration.

Capacity cannot be transferred from a different boom, attachment, counterweight, support, or operating configuration without manufacturer authorization.

Six-month course access

Enough time to study.
Clear limits on access.

Course and portal access begins when Stripe confirms successful payment and ends on the corresponding calendar date six months later. If that date does not exist in the ending month, access ends on the final day of that month. A single-course enrollment unlocks only that course's materials, practice exams, progress tools, and portal area. The Complete Bundle unlocks Core, LBC, and TLL. Instructor-Guided Preparation is a separate $500 add-on delivered through Google Classroom.
